Many, many years ago I learned how to sew, my mum taught me and then I was off, at 16 I was making hand made toys to sell, at 18 I made my wedding dress, at 20 I was making hand painted windcheaters and selling them as a party plan.
So over the years I have collected a sh^%# load of stuff! Buttons, lace, bits of material, paints, fixatives and more.
Then later on I learned how to china paint from an amazing lady in Leongatha in Victoria. One of the projects we made was a porcelain doll, part of the doll's costume included some beautiful cotton lace that was gathered, dipped in porcelain slip and attached to the doll's base skirt. When the doll was fired the cotton lace burnt away leaving a beautiful porcelain lace in its place.
Of course I bought lots of cotton lace so I could make more dolls. (Never happened, surprise, surprise). So now after more than 25 years I am finally putting some of the lovely cotton lace to use! Even the buttons on these patchwork cards have been in my stash for over 20 years, thanks to a lady who worked at the Kaiser factory in Traralgon many years ago, I've never had to buy any plain buttons since.
So here's the last of the patchwork card sets, don't forget if you want to give it a go yourself simply download the template from my previous post I'd love to see what you can come up with. Drop me a line and attach a pic of your creations.
