On my Pinterest journey I saw some fabulous paper ornaments made with old book paper, so I decided to give some of them a try. I mean now I've got a new ebook reader some of my old dog-eared books can finally be recycled!!! I used an old tattered copy of David Eddings fantasy masterpiece the Crystal Throne (don't you just love fantasy novels most of them have at least 4-500 pages in them).
So with book in hand I got to work pulling them apart and remaking them into some interesting Christmas ornaments.

I saw the most amazing steampunk Christmas trees at Epbot http://www.epbot.com/2012/12/diy-steampunk-cone-trees.html and I was blown away, couldn't sleep that night, then it hit me, why not a paperback guardian angel complete with sparkling sword to protect the house. So got to work and googled wing images and found some really beautiful ones. So here she is my Paper Guardian Angel covered in pages from the Crystal Throne (very appropriate as the book is all about love, honour and self-sacrifice).
Then I decided I needed a wreath for the door, and I saw a lovely rosette wreath on Splitcoasstampers, which gave me an idea for my own, so I put together a range of circular type paperart projects from a variety of places into this pretty silver and old paperback page wreath. I added a few buttons and bits and bobs, a bit of homemade mica powder spray mist and some glitter and voila!
I've used origami folded dahlia type flowers with silver glitter paper rosettes, rolled paper roses, plain silver glitter paper rosettes, paper rosettes with antique silver buttons, and frilled paper flowers using the Kaszazz fringe flower paper die (thanks for the lend Coralee, OK you can have some white chocolate and raspberry cheesecake!!!). I'm quite happy with the final product and looking forward to hanging it on my door, despite my burned thumb (it took a lot of hot glue to get it all to stick together and stay put!).
